Glossary of Terms

Anchor Named anchors let you set markers in a piece of content, which are often placed at a specific topic or at the top of a document. You can then create links to these named anchors, which quickly take your visitor to the specified position.
CMS Content Management System - The back-end part of your website where you can add content, make changes to your site, update user details etc.
Content In IDmedia, we refer to content as text and or images that you stitch together to create a piece of content. NB. Content does NOT have to be displayed on a published webpage.
Content Link When adding content to published pages, you can choose how they display on the website. By selecting Content Link, IDmedia will simply publish a hyperlink to your piece of content ¬ also refer Full link & Partial link for other options. This hyperlink allows users of your website to click through and read the full story.
EM Enterprise Manager. This is web software that consists of modules which can be customised to meet your strategic internet needs. Designed and built by ID Digital Media, these modules are based on our experience of building websites that work. One of those modules is IDmedia.
Full Link When adding content to published pages, you can choose how they display on the website. By selecting full link, IDmedia will publish the content in its entirety. Also refer Partial link & Content link for other options.
IDmedia Where your content (text, images, video, etc) is loaded and managed. It also plugs directly into In Design, meaning all fresh magazine content is automatically uploaded (text and images). This frees up wage hours that would otherwise be used for loading so that they can be used creating additional ‘web-only’ content.
IDsocial User comments, RSS feeds, paid competitions, database acquisition, email newsletter, personal profile pages - anything to do with social media is easily managed here. IDsocial also offers full reporting on email campaigns - open rates, etc.
IDstore
IDstore enables your site for e-commerce. In the case of magazines this is best used for processing print subscriptions but could ultimately be used as a complete online store.
Landing Page
This is the page that appears when a visitor clicks on a primary or secondary on your website.

Metadata Is information that goes with each piece of content. This will include such things as the author, and date file was added. It is similar to properties that a word document has.
Partial Link When adding content to published pages, you can choose how they display on the website. By selecting partial link, IDmedia will publish a synopsis of your content ¬ also refer Full link & Content link for other options. When selecting this option, it automatically creates a hyperlink at the end of the synopsis that allows users of your website to click through and read the full story.
PDF Adobe's Portable Document Format. It is often used as a format which allows much more complete, controlled layout of a page and its graphics and text than conventional HTML does. It requires a browser plug-in to see a web page in PDF format. Files will usually have a .pdf extension.
Primary These are the menu items that have been setup for your website. You are NOT able to edit your primaries. This must be done by ID Digital Media. In Enterprise Manager, "IDmedia" is a primary.
Published Page In IDmedia, each primary and secondary can have a published page. Each published page is built by adding pieces of content.
Secondary Under each primary, is usually a list of secondary or 'sub' levels. These are the second level of links shown on your webpage.
Support Files These are other supporting documents or files that you may wish to use on your website. Examples of support files would be PDF's or media files.
URL An acronym for "Uniform Resource Locator," this is the address of a resource on the Internet. World Wide Web URLs begin with http://
WYSIWYG Stands for "What You See Is What You Get". This is the environment you will work in when creating and editing your content. It looks like a cut-down version of Word.
