Insert Link

By inserting a link in your website you provide a path for someone to follow to connect to related material.  This could direct a person to an internal or external website page, an email address or a support document such as a pdf.

Instructions
  1. Highlight the appropriate text or image
  2. Click hyperlink icon .
  3. Choose the link type e.g. URL for website, or email for email address.
  4. Type in web address or email address.
  5. Click [Ok].
  6. To insert a support file as a link, navigate to the support file.  There will be a message "The link to this support file is:".  Copy this text.

  7. Go back to your content and follow steps 1 and 2 above.
  8. Change protocol to <other> and paste the support file link into the URL field.

  • If linking to somewhere else in your website, check URL address line, copy from the forward slash (including it) and paste into the URL box.  The protocol will automatically change to <other>
  • When inserting links on images, put 0 for borders (under edit image button) to remove borders around linked image
  • Remember to change Target to <new window blank>, so that when someone clicks on a link it will open a new window rather than changing the page that the person is currently viewing.  This is good if the link opens up another website and you don't want them to leave your own website.  Leave target as <not set> if you want the original page to change i.e. if the link is an internal page link.
